The "Rock of Ages" Musical is Returning to Broadway
The smash musical Rock of Ages will be returning to the stage for a 16-week run this summer in celebration of its 10th anniversary. The plot centers around a classic hair metal love story between a busboy who aspires to be an international rock star, and a small-town country girl with big Hollywood dreams. The musical's soundtrack features a large collection of hit songs from the era, including "Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi, "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake, "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister, and "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey.
From June 19th to September 29th, the musical will be held at the off-Broadway venue New World Stages under the direction of Kristin Hanggi and the choreography of Kelly Devine. The official cast for the musical is yet to be announced, but tickets are already available for purchase online.
Rock of Ages premiered on Broadway in April 2009 for a six-year run and a total of 2,350 live performances. It was up for five Tony nominations, including "Best Musical". It also proved to be a very successful touring act internationally in countries like Australia, England, Mexico, Canada, Korea and Japan. In 2012, Rock of Ages hit the silver screen in its film adapration starring Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julianne Hough, Paul Giamati and more.
