Disturbed Covers Simon & Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence"
August 29, 2015
Bands cover other artists' works all of the time. Foo Fighters & Zac Brown covered Black Sabbath's "War Pigs", Metallica covered "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger. But in a bizarre twist in styles, Disturbed has come out with their version of folk artists Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence."
It's a big step out of their comfort zone of shredding guitars, hammering drums, and ripping vocals that is sure to come as a surprise to devout Disturbed fans. Lead singer David Draiman mixes the grit and aggression of metal with the flow and passion of soul in this song, and almost anyone with ears can admit that he does right by Simon and Garfunkel.
