Those twelve championships won and being immortalized in NASCAR's hall of fame. Where you found out. That you are going to be inducted what was your immediate reaction when you got the nod from your peers in this sport that there would have put you into such an elite place. It was extremely humbling remains. Part that belief you know you. He knows if you think about it is nominated them here a lot of years and but it's huge you know there's so many worthy people. That shouldn't be an all time. And you. And when it happens to eat think and this is suspect they'll. Unbelievable. That you during the that it minute. In this sport and it thank you never win a race or. Let alone a championship in eighty yards. Get ready to go and haul planes it what it. Well it's amazing you've got 245. Wins in the cup series 23 in the expanding series 26. In the camping wrote truck series and twelve titles to your credit. What is one of the moments are a couple of the moments that you're the most proudest substitute BA came in the sport back in the mid eighty's. Well. You know get there they're a lot. To win your first race you always remember. Martin spoke at that kept the saliva. We hadn't won that race wouldn't be here. Very important that. It is Jesper were labeled with a right to get a spot because it was all closed doors. Isolated heavy you know. And that would. Unbelievable video. Winning your first championship. Sit in New York Beckett about handling your go to players. And you just want. I'd let you know NASCAR championship. Of their motion that it. That we hear. And then I have to say when Rick he wandered off road truck race and this and my life. As they are signed. When that race is his emotions. Are motion. Property talk about. America because cough. And it. So. Those are the most memorable debate. When you look back on the titles you say the first one came in 1995. Was that. Easy for you that year I mean what what what was the most difficult challenge on that and and when did you know. That you're about to become a NASCAR what was then Winston cup series championship winning car owner. Who are your. You know that you do it and when you lock it in you you start thinking about it you start thinking about what you have to do and you know you eat it suits. It's so Marky you're back in those days it is say that this if you had a good portly. If you went into that last Friday in Atlanta. EU okay it would finish 38 we've got. We finished you know whatever we. To do it you know way off. I remember but I can't remember what championship it was. But we decided. Is I knew ratio. Ready to attack the cars. Somebody else would. Before Barkley says that Monica Monica. And we had a 38 seconds it. We have a little breather and I hear that. It so. The bundle of nerves I mean and remember. The year that we we finished. We we don't finish first and second and third. For the second lead. We. The pressure. Between the teams but they work together. And then. You know course. And it. All of homosexuals. All of a nerve wracking. All problem. The delegate count your blessings so it happens and not them let. Fighters through it last year when. You. Just few laps together and live laugh and he had to win or the editor of the masses. This beware of the championships. They're off and it. Part that we end up caught. He's got a New York like Richard Childress they are harder to get this championship every year when it started it and now. You know get that first one was an unbelievable feeling again very thankful we're glad that they're able to enjoy the sport. And meet so many good people and brands. And and watch. Yeah at all over here. Chatting with Rick Hendrick here on NASCAR live about to be inducted into the NASCAR hall of fame Rick you've had this uncanny ability to to. Develop. Not only guys that work in the shop folks that work in the office but race car drivers as well you've been very successful about harvesting talent when you think. If your drivers to drive for you. What are a couple of things that you really look for in a driver. Or. Use all and say well it. It may be that way now but with some nurturing it could be a certain way in the future that'll be beneficial. To the operation what are some of those criteria that you use when you are picking that drivers. But I you know when you have multi car teams. Period and you wanna get someone a little bit. That'll contribute and you know that they got to get along well but you don't have a ball. Also in our sport she got to ask you know that the person that can handle himself then enough. And then deal with sponsors but the most important period now and got a cult laid to rest but. When you see ago life. Jeff Gordon when he's out there and dropping. Busch Series car. Or you you you know it's usually kid like eight delegate BC someone like Jimmie Johnson. He's stated what it got down all schools. Is that clean cut site is. Good friends with yet so different about sons. And I get excited about it you know. I get excited about growing gas line and see what are. You know Allen got that. And shoppers. Leaders. Order you know he is. It immediate if you built it we eat drink gas like any Norton and Perry and build it right foundation. That you bring people along in the growth in the cured and houses. It really a long long. That's fraud that he GDP art experience Phillips. And and then I get supermarket sanity super excited about William Barr. You know chase delegates and the young that. There's. I believe they have got like spirit body and yet but now all of made a mark.
