And will look back on Sunday's clash at Daytona with a NASCAR live backtracked. But before we get started let's get you caught up with where we are in speed weeks Tony seventeen. On Sunday afternoon chase Elliott grab the Daytona 500 pole for the second straight year. Now these locked in Elliott talked about the goal moving forward for the rest of the week modest thank you wanna. ID cards so where a year that guy and everybody always talks about that down sun nagged I was really fast he can make Elaine go for agree to make this half banner. He he could push me to the front you wanna be that guy so I think for us we wanted to automate our cardiac car. And for me gets more practice on Thursday at paddy did get practice they were when Eddie. Thank him and I got comfortable again and each other these plates Jackson just Allred themselves. I think is trying to find that rhythm for next week is big and hopefully in that Thursday in and dietary thing up so. The driver of the Napa Chevrolet chase Elliott now on the outside pole for Sunday's Daytona 500 is this Hendrick Motorsports teammate. Dale Earnhardt junior making his comeback after being out of the car for more than six months. Dale spun out you're call in last year's Daytona 500 and has a little concerned about the handling of his cars this week. After teammate Jimmie Johnson also had issues Sunday. In the clash I spun out twice last year Alex by now wants our car although merely. Similar situations we done deftly aware of and we're looking man you know our notes from an early years. We dominated. Not tolerate grade in fifth in two down fifteen. So we'll look at what we did in order now on solar does the process of elimination that's kind of what have been doing. Until he picks says and it's going to be a real hard to get enough practice we're gonna practice as much as we can but. You know he got to have guys out there enough guys out there to kind of put yourself in enough situations to get confidence in the balance of the car. And so I don't know if we're really it. We're really achieve that. Does it over the practice that much for this race they might consider how to balance is changing with the track and stuff and it will slicker that. A lot of guys practice will be down their practice and not worry about Eric RO wouldn't large back. And don't forget to him tomorrow night's can end duels the top ten drivers in each. Will earn points or explain that more in tomorrow's race as well but you wanna make special note of that it's a change. This is a special edition of NASCAR alive for the Daytona 500 on the motor racing network. The voice of NASCAR. From Daytona will be. Florida this is a special edition of NASCAR. Back to your host woody. Welcome back to this special edition of NASCAR alive you know the Advance Auto Parts clash. At Daytona was postponed from Saturday night for rain and moved to Sunday morning. For a unique perspective of that race here's a NASCAR alive back tracts. Feel fit those different stretch headed up the banking of turn number three Brad Kozlowski and many can't adopt plot are bad or what but what about. And put everybody in order here. Art equipment. Every day and the fans on their feet you're at the world that are racing we're about to kick off 47 CNET. As the green flag goes on the air traffic help from Jamie McMurray yeah. You know doubted the pressure about crude oil 48 dot org you. About Cooper three earth. Jimmie Johnson looks like Jimmy just lost the back again. Of the Chevrolet Rusty Wallace came down to include the war of hurt gore yes exactly what happened gimmick got big time sideways as as he exited turn four. What happened the itself do problem or I haven't had quite a bit surprised about that you develop the field. I don't do that but doesn't look 41. Denny Hamlin our product dropped at the low side of the track in turn three Suarez is went that this team make your thoughts down low I think that Robert refused to say about your. There. Like the credit one bank one decals yeah. Gone through it nobody does nobody get out about your right rear white flag what board. Take action and yeah. Do you look at it Bradford and that about him back and bad side. Aside we're back inside facts but also at their peak lesbians going to debate related here at Daytona here but yours look so we'll see. It's nothing like Philip. Well six record. Want an exciting finish Denny Hamlin looked to have things under control Brad Kozlowski try to make it well. It had a great point but he insists nobody yelled back but you get built and nobody out backed its view that away at its core I got hurt by those are. Albrecht who are or how bad it really let her go randomly out of work. So disappointment for Brad Kozlowski and elation and some momentum for Joey look on go after Sunday's season opening exhibition race. Earlier today media day at Daytona International Speedway where we were able to talk with some of NASCAR's brightest stars from all three divisions. Our Winston Kelley and Alex Hayden chatted with the track president chip while and Danica Patrick who had a fourth place finish on Sunday. I feel like the car felt more stable than it has spurred the last cavaliers for me I felt like I was able to get hit and and hit other cars better. And it felt more comfortable so that's a positive because it gets snarling out there. Not only to get worked a way to describe that and sent it's an under used word these days. If it really is Danica Patrick joining us to Aspen dental fort from Stewart Haas racing president Daytona International Speedway chip while. Drivers in the garage promoters you guys have to work hand in hand and out out for this to both the view. How does that dynamic work when when chip you're trying to sell tickets are trying to put on a world class event which is got the history behind it I'm like anything else and. Dedicate you're one of those the most recognizable race car drivers in the world one of the best to ever hold a steering wheel. No matter what kind of race parties how do you guys work together how does that dynamic work. Well I I think really it is and we talked about this last year that we we have to work together it's critical that. Dan Danica and all the other drivers understand what we're trying to accomplish and we also understand what they need. And I think that's what made us successful as we understand what they mean when they show to the racetrack and and we need to treat them the right way and then they and turn will help us. We as we promote the race and we sell tickets and we ask for them to do things on race weekend. It's tough one because we I mean as far as drivers go we're asked to do so much stuff and every single every single every single track. Promoter wants us to do stuff for them and we physically don't have time to do that and nor do we want to I mean. Honestly inner is exhausting and you know that's the stuff that sells tickets right so you say and you know that's that gets people interested in reminded of the weekend coming and the race coming. But it's it's definitely. It's definitely. You know we do what we can't as drivers but it's. Yeah I mean that's why in our our agreement we have did you certain advances for track so that tracks have something somebody they can use to help promote the race. That's just something that we have to do and dumb but yes I mean I feel like if you feel like I feel like it's. It's not required. Some of the stuff we do but we do it because we know it's the right thing to do. And we want to help we want people in the stands and we want people to watch the race but but it's it's definitely an analyst project. Some very tough balance and I'll always at NASCAR drivers that the most accessible and there's not as many NASCAR drivers as there are. Bill on the bike other sports major league baseball players National Football League players that senator senator let's go back to the racetrack one last question you can take. You said that you learned some things you learn where you could bump. What should we expect what would you tell fans to expect. In Thursday's 10 am duels what do you expect. To prepare for the Daytona 500. Well I definitely like that with the charter system you know here in the race I mean that's just one of those things with qualifying in the duels that used to be just. Silly honestly. Because anything can happen and it's completely out of your control. Meet European the race actually practice PM and a member line when I was on the pole. I mean eyes started obviously up front of the duel and I ran a proper couple laps or something I kind of faded a little and then I just went to the back and then I just Cayman like. Our ramp came rumor fact and stories I'm strike image Rand way back and it was like. That was that was what I had to do because they couldn't compromising situations though. It probably still the same as far as keeping the same car in the front row but you know was also it's all else needs to be concerned to be used in the race period comes so. I think it'll put people in a position where they can obviously push a little bit harder. I think there's some points on the line for the top tens so there's a little bit more incentive to to push a little bit but. It's I still think you're gonna see stuff on the safe side a little bit out there minutes still weasel now what's the duels but. But there's a little bit more on the line and you know a win is a win I mean just like people are in Alec doubling your fourth I'm like well. Big banks you know I mean it kind of feels like it wasn't really a fourth because we there was you know it was just clashed but but she you know went to win. And I'll take it I would take it. And that can am duel they were talking about comes your way at 6 o'clock eastern time Thursday night here on the motor racing network and hopefully is Danica said the racing will be normally. Coming up on this special edition of NASCAR alive national recording artist Jordan sparks will join us. As well as NFL hall of fame induct B LaDainian Tomlinson and later will hear from more media day at Daytona including seven time champ Jimmie Johnson. The new NASCAR season and spring break are about to share one weekend at Phoenix raceway so what can you expect. Forty years this is a special edition of NASCAR alive for the Daytona 500 on the motor racing network. The voice of NASCAR. From Daytona Beach, Florida this is a special edition of NASCAR love. Back to your post would be okay. Thanks for joining us on this special edition of NASCAR live this weekend's Daytona 500 will have its. Your share of celebrities on hand. Actor Owen Wilson ex NFL great LaDainian Tomlinson and singer Jordan sparks just to name a few. Tomlinson will be the honorary starter for this Sunday's race and he's the NFL's record holder for single season touchdown at 29 that was set back in 2006. When he won the NFL MVP award. Had a chance to speak with them in Las Vegas at the NASCAR awards banquet and asked him if he's among those who believe NASCAR drivers are athletes now. Think they are at least nobody as far as the amount that Tom Daschle squad training. That's required to do what they do on you you have to be apple led. All of these guys spend a lot of time in the June. You know give their bodies pretty much like a football player whose board idea. You've got a very your body but also are your mom physically. To go through the battle and it's the same thing with these guys during our season you know racing every week you know and being in that car. Hours of phone time they they definitely are athletes. When you get ready to go to an event and you been around some of these guys. What grabs you about this sport about NASCAR. Com. You know what the mindset that they have. It seems like to me they're all focused guys like when you meet them there are always related to. When you read football players. You meet quarterbacks they're mostly all I was saying we meet running backs throughout the same race car drivers off the threat go to malls or their minds there. Tell me about your movie coming up pretty soon because that's going to be pretty cool sounds like. Yeah that is god blessed to broker role on this commonalities spring the 2070. I'll play pastor Williams and his this debate based movie is based on the a young widow who lost her husband in the war in Afghanistan. It's overtime she cannot lose her braid but gains it back. Through various things that happened throughout the movie and so it's gonna be awesome movie hasn't NASCAR tie into wanted to characters or is actually your racer. And so I think it's a movie that a lot of people would enjoy. How cool is that for you to do something a little different outside the box a little bit in stretch your legs in a different area. This is pretty cool you know because it's a challenge. And then as badly. I love challenges you know that's probably made my body of career off about challenges you know. Bob plummeted in the national football only Lotta people said hey it's guys too small is not fast enough. But I was able to prove him wrong and is no different you know trying to do a movie. You know you see all the work that goes into it but they you have to challengers have to do that work and to perform when the lights come home. NFL hall of fame inductees LaDainian Tomlinson the honorary starter for this Sunday's Daytona 500. National recording artist Jordan sparks will be singing the National Anthem for Sunday's race. I also spoke with her out in Las Vegas and it turns out she has NASCAR roots as well growing up watching races with a grandfather. It's interesting because I had to go through my memory banks can barely remember what day yesterday. But before I got my grant but to me and my best friend at PIR and we watched erase their assault on house. But it was so much on my grip was always been a really big and it's a picture of where Tony Stewart is sitting for him. I know he's going to be very excited but I think it's interesting it's amazing and I know for me. It's hard to meet a walk in general so to see people racing at that high speed so close together it's it's fascinating. So we knew when your around these these these types of athletes who were different from your world what grabs you about them. Man I you know what it's always interesting it's almost like how you know how. Soldiers kind of have that instinct where they can recognize another soldier when they're not in Eric here. It's almost the same thing like you watch have to go okay like it's different their company and what they do they know their job. They know that there had the best in the highest that what they do and it's amazing to get to that level so you kind of recognize it immediately. What is amazing I mean they do a lot of work I can even imagine being in that part out hot again tonight. It's it's it's it's very commendable actually and the risk involved as well so. It's one of those things where it's just like a what do you say it like other things about is there anything higher than congratulate soon flag. But it is very amazing it's an honor to be here tonight I'm excited. Talk of any Thomas and earlier you guys have the movie coming out and he says there's a NASCAR Italian tell us about it the other is on the lead character one of the lead characters into walker he actually. Races cars in the film. The little girl in the film as well seemed like Mickey's. In this group but her church where they refurbished like Pineiro a little box cars and so that's how that kind happens but Joseph Gibbs is actually a part down they tried to get him in it. But this gets really didn't work but he hasn't hand and and he's very excited about it so that's where the time come. Jordan sparks will be performing this Sunday's National Anthem ahead of the Daytona 500. And then there's old seven time Jimmie Johnson he stopped by today for a chat with our Kim Koo and and Steve post. They started with the after glow of tying all time greats Richard Petty and the late. You learn more if for me I just think about how to folded in and that final ten I sit there. That the excitement that it then came with it in the I've just had such a smile on my face whenever I think about the experience. You know we won five races which is great but in the middle of winning almost five races are really tough summer stretch for us. So I look back I have a lot of pride in in the organization in in real. And of a new sense of understanding team were in power or they work together so. There's a lot of pride comes from future that we went through. Proud to you tied dale and in richer as the seven time champ and then the excitement so brain and celebrate with my family. Go to the banquet in all the fun we had their candidate had a blast off of and I'm very fortunate. You're adding part time in Colorado I think through May may end. I feel like that maybe. Changes your outlook as UConn in the race weekend do you feel like your refresh a little bit more so than if you were just spending all your time. In Charlotte continent the race center. Yet definitely feel refreshed and it's my happy place. My grew up in the outdoors is a kid and then. You know through so my adult life maybe majority of it. Just been been busy in Charlotte then have a place in New York. On so it is to go to Colorado in in reactivate that stuff has been been really good for me but most importantly it's it's about the family time then armed. It the amount of time I've had with my family is something that the team we all long for during the course this season. So to be able to go to Colorado disconnect just be there with my family. It's it's been really get on that front that's really what she and I were were seeking was just some great quality family time and and we can happen. Only three drivers in history of 17. NASCAR titles at the top level. And at one of them Jimmie Johnson stopping by to visit with Cancun and Steve post this morning. Coming up on this special edition of NASCAR alive we've got more from Daytona media day including a visit with AJ all lending her. Who's got a new teammate this year JPG Doherty racing. This is a special edition of NASCAR alive for the Daytona 500 on the motor racing network the voice of NASCAR. From Daytona the Florida this is a special edition of NASCAR. Back to your host woody. Thanks for making out with a on this special edition of mass Carl lives where we're. Cherry picking some of the best from Daytona media day earlier today AJ all of a bigger stopped by to visit with our anchors Joseph Moore and just regal. They started with singer's new teammate Chris butcher. It's all public and for doing you know having Chris on board in just a lot obviously a ton of talent X and eighty champion in when in its first cup race last year. Morning thing I think it's gonna help our struggles last and I can't be. That's not scared. We'll make this short history don't get too ally but this really looking forward to having a team and that it's gonna help me it's on him and help organization. That's actually where I was going to go would you feel like you can learn from your new teammate. I don't know let's look at the other way around I would I feel like there's more coming from. Not. He's just he's got a lot of talent in you know have a RCR alliance has been great the last three years it's helped with the time. But there's something to be said having that second car that's exactly the same. As your car and you can bounce ideas off each other that's what's up you can look at the data you can see that notes we don't know exactly what's in the RC are cars that might be different and art. But knowing that you have two cars out of the same shop built the same. I can learn a lot from home hopefully he'll learn some some stuff for me in Bologna thing but she's the summer months go on that's been our struggle. You'll have a second car there keep us pushing him and learn more and more days especially with a lower downforce package against so. It's it's going to be huge benefit. Are you feeling any pressure at all to be a coach and a manager to this young driver I mean let's face it. We go to Watkins Glen we get out California you're the guy we get to Phoenix we get to pocono you're the guy and here now you're gonna have a young driver he'll be looking up to you is that changed the way you approach at all I don't. I would just he's got so much talent he's he's done this for for several years it may be only one in the cup series. But you know he's an X and eighty champion he's won on ovals that's something I haven't done so there's a lot I can learn from TI don't think it's a main tour. I have the show him the ropes he knows what he's doing out there he he knows how to Iraq I watched him at Bristol last year and that that August race. I mean drive to the front and I body had a chance to win the race at the cautions fell rightly so. It's it I think we just both. Sure the road courses he can he can learn a lot from me. Certain racetracks I can in Martinsville like and hopefully bring some stuff but there's a lottery sure tackler a lot from him and more importantly it's. We gotta be at her best together to keep bill this organization to go Loughner can be compete against the gives in the Hendrix. What's the buildup been like for the organization I know up until last year you guys share a building with the wood Brothers they moved out now you have the entire subtlety. And you've gone from one carded two cars watch that whole build up then like ho hum. The process. Has been crazy honestly from from early December. When the season ended in kind of look at their still basically one coronary. Make the decision to go to two cars and from the time. Begin at December was until. Middle of January just to see all the cars that are being built all the new people. It would had a duty of down the last. I mean this their 43 year NASCAR but just really the last couple years I I joined the team at the and it went thirteen to see where was when they're barely thirty people. Telling them counting the marketing people to where we are now. And it just shows the credit. Of the hard work because there's not many organizations right now is say you know what we have to at a Clark has we have too many sponsors. And been very fortunate Kroger joined our team about a year and a half ago two years ago announced balloon in in my car full time Kroger click list. In all the other part is that we've had that a are on purses car. To show us how hard it had dirty work. Before we let you go the uniforms still looks clean it won't be like that probably come Sunday. And you are going to be giving it away salute rap with how somebody can walk away with. That small uniform. Yeah Accra. I. And I expect the but not at a had to have a tailored Dow lost weight over the Internet but now lie everybody go to Kroger dot com or go to all the GT AG. Media outlets twittering to Graham all that all the got to do is. Post a picture of them with Kroger logo any type program logo. So far the one that's winning is a guy in its high in the snow. Only high. Whitney Kroger sign over the front of a solid to me in my mind that's winning but it's a random draw after the Daytona 500. They get the suit I'll tell them it's not been washed because they get the full or fulfillment of AJ in the race suit so. You that. Take a picture of the drug logo with UN in if you swimsuit. That's AJ all mending your coming up more from Daytona media day including visits with Kurt Busch Kyle Larson and Matt Kansas. This is a special edition of NASCAR alive for the Daytona 500 on the motor racing network. The voice of NASCAR. From Daytona will be. Florida this is this special edition of NASCAR lie. Back to your host woody. Got a cavalcade of stars come through our station at Daytona international. We've played today Daytona media day Dave Moodie and Carl Ricky were on station when Kyle Larson came through. You may were calling had a little problem in the clash at Daytona with a penalty that forced his team behind the wall. But David Kyle wanted to know from Larsen house is Daytona 500 car performing. Yet done so runs in the is 500 car. We haven't any drafting and on the anybody has with a 500 car. Mean and I don't know if we'll be any drafting tomorrow for the duels is because the of the weather so. Don't know what to expect expect should be. Should be interesting I think rather limited practices did for our sport in history scenes in it makes erases. More competitive. I think itself. As far as. The clash went. I thought we were the worst of the race that we deaf or in the past so we are kind of mid pack I think it got up like fifth at one point in you know. It's not a lot of cars resource every kind of hang you out so I mean I get the fifth the next lap I ran and seventeenth or Aaron cars in the race so. In and then yeah we get to. She X turn across her nose there late in the race and we barely had any damage though we had to the people of that at all. Under caution to put tape on the nose in Mason as the garage so friendly at the new rule that. I didn't know about that that's I don't know now way out waiting to think that. I thought at the brightness and other rules and implied that. I guess is that the five minute clock so we did so confused on that. How while. How worrisome if at all is is going out there are 2 run your pan am dual. Having not raced in the packed at all with this racetrack this with the trees gardens. Yadda I don't know yet to different. I think you know from what chats on its limit different like our normal likes to rescue package so. We qualified let it better than normal. You're sixteen to him he tenth off the poll also we've we've got more scenery is currently and the pass I think a lot different. So I don't really. How it's gonna draft yet. But it should be should be out it and you know Cain. Now of Leo it's now a lot to me. Is there much Andy's mentioned wasn't a lot of cars out there during the Advance Auto Parts clash on Sunday afternoon or serve much you can take. From that experience and transfer over to your 500 are. I don't know I mean. Probably the team can. As far as the united is trying to figure out which lanes I worked as a top I filed a class sailor better in the bottom in the name normally do. We're gonna have to like asking the middle or toppling in the campground where. It it and the bottom line I always felt like we keep cutting in line in in in I kid. Go for that way. So yeah I don't know this it's like you say it's different there's you know and we seventeen cars that reason. You come this Sunday we have all forty so to be a lot different here. It will be different in the rounds will be different you touched on it. A minute ago you obviously it didn't come here open qualified sixteenth. But then you look at the times and and Europe Tampa we're lasts. From the pole and you don't have to be far off to be far off right now. Now yeah that was not so. For the first round I think Jason ran a day. 80 and Aaron and nine new line and I was sixteen. Normally like first the sixteenth is like three or four tents I feel like says. And mean it just shows how hard. All race teams work this offseason and you know competitive race will be on Sunday talk about your offseason for a moment Australia looked nice by the way I'm New Year's leave that look like you're down there. What how many races did you run and how many extra curricular races will you run this year when none of the contract. Yes to this offseason I ran a finger discount a little bit ago with seven. Iran Turkey night green that's Australia. I want to museum in Iran one that we rain now Chile hosts unites in the industry evolution the other night so seven. Shows school. It was my second time to Australia first kinda like this in the area so Dallas that was a lot of fun. There is checked it took care of us. New Zealand I love going to New Zealand the long way to go to get rained out did you have. It's. I love New Zealand you know hitting it to raise site in the earlier two nights they are still blasting get together out they go down again this all seems that a couple weeks there. BI as far as X rays in this. This this year in the cup season. I can run 25 races total so I'm Marty ran. Price for. Saw these I have four hour races. Couple lost their races. I ample midget races. And then yet in Italy didn't that coming off season and then we'll go to officers' union. Does that still put chip tenacity and wolf full swept when he reminded that this is what this is one of awakens a little run my sprint car disease don't get off to a two. He gets my name I scheduled writing an early talk to about it. Yeah. You know I you know he doesn't. I don't think he'd love tested right here rather suspect cars and stuff like that meant. He knows I love it alive means a lot mean. Means a lot mean he lets here on TI yeah I think he's the greatest car out there for the let me have fun and getaway from the normal day jobs sometimes that I have a happy driver yeah drive a fast driver in you know I think it it really and it helps me. Healthy get better in all sorts racing is the race much like him. One of the more interesting offseason had by any of the drivers Kyle Larson goes halfway around the world to race and relax. Coming up next on NASCAR alive Kurt Busch. Matt Kenseth and Martin Truex junior this is power. This is freedom. This is tradition. Marc yeah this is being who you were meant to be where you are meant to be. This is more than a race this is Talladega. His party in NASCAR returns may fifth through seventh for the Daytona 500 calling sums up. It's motor racing network canceled late for you to reach out to express her thoughts and opinions on NASCAR. It's the MR and a fan forum online. Heard yeah. Not. What I heard call and eat more food or food or ask him are in just a question or comment from the driver AMR and personality and 84 floor war. Ask him are hanging out in public and it is an important hotlines and your connection with the pork NASCAR. This is a special edition of NASCAR alive for the Daytona 500 on the motor racing network. The voice of NASCAR. From Daytona. Florida this is this special edition of NASCAR. Back to your host woody. You're off racing made an off season went through Ford and at least. For Kurt Busch. Things didn't start off so well but it wasn't his fault our Ricky and Dave Moodie caught up with Kurt Busch. And talk to him about regrouping after he crashed in the clash for the Daytona 500. Yeah I feel like we haven't got much done even though we've been down here gone through tech inspection and now meet with the engineers going through all of our numbers in notes and check in the balance changes between the Ford and Chevy. All of this has been done on the computer Cokie we hardly have any track time and so willow we'll get out there when we can and give our best effort I mean there's nothing. That we can do to prepare any further we just need more track time. Before misfortune struck the other today it looked like you had a pretty good race car it looked like your Stewart Haas racing teammates had pretty good race car itself overall. With minimal return so far like you said Whitman on the track a lot. All all's well what as good as it seems for the transitional Ford Motor Co. Yeah I feel like the speedway stuff came along really early because once Talladega finishes last fall I mean was that I was October right. We jumped in the Daytona mode. Then once homestead finished then we were able to. Few weeks off for the guys and then start to build all of our downforce cars and our short track cars like for Phoenix and Martinsville. So I feel like we've got all the parts and pieces again just track time. That's where over the years we always had. Pre season testing here at Daytona own aura. West Coast trip to LA or Vegas so we're really restricted on actual at tracks off so. Now back to Charlotte on Monday and Tuesday and spent time in the fort simulator. Running laps and running sequences from the lead engineer that's on the 41 car Johnny Klaus Maier. And say in an hour run through sequences and reckon that's him simulator models. If we put him a race car and didn't tell you which was which could you tell the difference is there a tangible. Difference between before and and and the Chevy and Toyota. Author's little subtle things yes and it just illustrates to turn on the the electronic control unit and see if Ford emblems prop up right fired at the end and here in Daytona and just felt that deeper rooted. Rough and their card and the yeah and it speed it's still felt the same. But just going to garage area and idling around it was great to have Doug Yates is power under the hood. Tomorrow night we can't handle the first time since 1971 will pay points first points of the year will be earns three days before the Daytona 500 but a lot and to be able to say that. Will that change anything should we expect something different tomorrow night for 2150 mile events. For the restricted player racing we've seen the wrecks happen between like third and fifth. The other day you know the leader and and Kozlowski is trying to make a move to win the race. You know I was running twelfth wherever in the clashing got clipped. Rex can happen any moment any time there's no safe place and the leaders and even state so. Can't worry about it just got to go for just got to go race and not get too caught up with with the points. And position yourself to learn things about the car because the most important segment. As lap 200 in the Daytona 500 that's what I'm worried about. Is there. Enough incentive. Tipped to win a stage to it to grab some extra points. Is there enough incentive. To take a risk early in the race I think Keselowski said last week decent work and drive any harder we're always driving art. But look what we may be willing to do is take more of a risk to try and win one of those stages. And once you get to the summer months and it's July and you don't those extra bonus points in your pocket. And are looking in your in your shoe box in your now you don't have those extra points to carry with you in the chase. Then in the kicking yourself because you don't out. So yes you wanna try to travel when you can't you don't need to jump off the bridge and hope that something catches you before you fall. He had a rabbit smoothly appropriately and have a strategic move. Now when you're gone after the planned for tomorrow will we see. You guys in the draft in the practice at 12 o'clock tomorrow afternoon that's what I'm anticipating. You know we need to use. Dial in what we can for our car it's hard to simulate the draft with two when he cars that we're gonna see in the dual. And then you don't ever simulated until. You know the first segment of the Daytona 500 so those keep going off our notes and you know Kevin's car and good in the clash and gather data for Mitt. Cliff's car shoots the and single car runs now we'll double checked things there we're we're big powerful team that's a charge of mile bridge right on through this group switch over to fort. Your racing life history for the manufacturer change over the offseason your personal life got a whole lot better during the offseason to you you it's like a walking advertisement for happy wife happy life and it's been wonderful. The foundation is as important settled and it's wonderful to have meant. The woman of my dreams. A great life. I know should be great mother. And she supports marriage wedeman wedeman. Gossip about you are pregnant and yeah I can any of it just has that that that field got that take care of everybody around a lot and just everything in the future looked bright and even conduct afford the homecoming. Back with with those guys again it's it's wonderful where. Steven Tyler plea that is reception yeah of course that that those are pretty damn good party apparently that we want on the outside I hear that the UN human Tyler bonds notes are right. He is unbelievable and great sport to hang out afterwards and take pictures with the grooms men the bridesmaids that stand Malia. Even the monster a CEO's were there they're the ones that helped kind of line things up. And afterwards that some and we go on honeymoon in. That well over a honeymoon right now I want season gets under way that we have a week off in April. He should come out of my Alley got a place out there even if I'm not out there you can have a house in my. Okay yeah this year. But much of an argument. So we were looking to make arrangements are out to Hawaii for a by the Easter off week and vacation and honeymoon out there. How cool is that Steven Tyler plays your wedding party and then offers you his house in Hawaii. For a honeymoon pretty cool offseason for Kurt Busch who got a lot more ahead on the best of Daytona media day. Matt Kenseth and Martin Truex junior are right around the corner. From Daytona Beach, Florida this is this special edition of NASCAR love. Back to your host Rudy Gay. Morton director. You're you're one of the guys expected to ten strongly for the 2017 championship Mike Bagley and deepest only caught up with a mid Daytona media day. They started off with looking back at the clash at Daytona. Where true Rex was among several drivers who had an incident. You know we don't we change or less we have left so I'm here you know as we see kind of clear sells whatever race traffic. Unless I'm merely awful pretty much useless got to appoint a race where. I was time ago whose about fifteen ago. Had a big run on the back pushing harder and are a little holes try to get in front for a two car he got in I'm like. I don't close my spotter saying you're not clear yet exactly area around like that it's within 68 inches I know a foot like I think act and make it knocked Carter last. That was the end of that he was still there my mere sucked I was mad about it and I figured finding the going rate there I was gonna be no shot to win so it was what it was. You know a lot of folks think that you guys don't use mayors and it'll mean that in a negative connotation because I was here about spotters yeah tell us about the spotter cleared inspired a best yet the spotter not doing this or doing that. How reliant are you on the on the windows are on the mayor's attempt in the car. Obviously very because not having won in amazement maybe spin myself out says Seth. Honestly you're spotters or their spotters were giving information about what's going on around you more so than science news. Your clear you can you can do that she knew that whatever you know really drive the car for you so. You know I always I try to use my Beers make my own decisions. Spotters there just kind of as a you know. A second. Opinion her set eyes that you maybe catch some that you don't see. But mores about him trying to keep up with a what's going on around because you can't see 23 cars behind you what's going on were two or three cars running sometime so. But the position you put your car in the holes when you try to get a really tight hold you got to remember he's up on the roof that's. You know quarter of a mile away from the the from the backstretch so. You know if you can clear yourself premieres are usually better off to make our decisions that he's just kind of there for a you know oh that's a wrap up banter some that's gonna happen here there's so. Sued the salute that dug out from here to Sunday mark what's the plan what are you guys and try to accomplish you would get back on track first first goal mission is make sure the bears are right okay Beers so with a little bit of practice tomorrow hopefully get that get that situated. And then you know the goals tomorrow night. Try to get a good finish you get a few points get a good start stuck spot in the 500. Got a good starting spot for our goal starting third. So that should be good and policy we accomplished. It was like Sunday had no we've followed laundered MRI dot com. The challenge ahead at MacArthur inspection as a driver waiting. For your ride that yeah at the practice clock is tick tick tick tick tick which got a race car was like waiting for the crew get all that sorted out you happen to them. Especially not bad I mean especially here for practice we don't plan on making one or two rooms. And we had died it was the longest practice in NASCAR history it was like four hours. I figured I figured we had plenty of times longtime. I did have funny times in the hauler and not hang out my guys which is always fun you know we haven't been a long time ago lately obviously so. It's fun to get in there respond to us talk then and and talk about Atlanta and talk about Daytona and all those kind of things to kind of get prepared but. It wasn't too bad I was actually more nervous before qualifying you know worried about. Are we gonna you make a lap qualifying more than anything so I'm looking rarely do that I'm good laughter. Of those inspection issues the guys were talking about here for fans who don't know in the garage here you have several stations that you have to go through and clear. For your car to be allowed on the track. This year for the first time if you fail one station you don't just go back through that station and then passed you have to go through all the stations again so that led to the delay. With Morton for Rex junior. Mike and Pete stayed on hand when Matt Kenseth came around the court they started off talking with him about strategy. It talked about his discussions with crew chief Jason rack. Clay I use is just doing tells him that the art and and I don't know I mean I think it's just all I mean I think the biggest thing about those ages as just. You know depends on Acosta tomorrow right him if there's if there's no strategy in the states and I don't think it's gonna. Really change race slot in the regular source Canon and you always want to lead in. And who have been leading on the cost comes out but at the costumes up point three lots of four that stage and got some guys that are. Maybe deep in the top tanner you know twelfth thirteenth fourteenth and don't like their shot to win the race at than they might call that. That race differently than somebody is and is trying to play to win the race at the Indian also might mix of the field I think that was something hit it probably is going to be more strategy than anything else. Was watching in the clash on Sunday and one point you had all four via a front there and you looked solid you look. The cars looks stable even though from what I'm hearing is some guys rent control there on Sunday. But the horse powers there and again we come a restricted plate track and Joseph Gibbs racing and is up front. Well we weren't as fast as I wish to work and all four from line though openers on seventeen cars up there maybe less at the time so. I really felt like four posts and alliance and they'll pull away for another twelve weren't really organized. And we're really couldn't do that so. The guy's a good job a strategy in getting us there and put us in that spot will work together well on researching get an outline. But I really honestly thought the equipment like plaster us force rebel pull away from the field just because there was a small package that was relatively. You know on organized so it worked out good to get there it was a good test that. We just knew where speed. That from watching it with the sun and received to date time with the track was really slick is that going to be replicated Sunday the that you me did you learn stuff for Sunday the weather might be around the same. Yeah ever looked at a forward to the weather that far yet I'd say that the trachsel has a lot of group they they took out pretty good talking horse power play changing in this year's are going a little bit slower at the about a second or second half slower. Hanley was a big issue. It was a little bit of middle of pac panel. It was for Jimmy's that was newsroom lose Specter and turn four Ozal trick you way the wind was. In the big tackle make that that you know more challenging but I I don't think it's going to be. Anymore re handling race and it's been really since that paved though I don't think handling is enough going to be the main factor. Source close in another racing season. Another trip to Daytona that we're off to Atlanta and new aerodynamic package lesser downforce all that what are you looking forward to the most is it going. And you can prefer or yourself. Go in Atlanta all Charlotte yeah. This Memorial Day and a half a inherited Easter for a million. A you know. I don't know other cars and a lot different I mean in there me a little different that at some downforce off I mean from being here today and your Lester obviously found a lot of that back and they took some back off. You know saw so I don't know a lot of it depends on the tire. What are Goodyear brings. That an increasingly good I don't know. Really what to expect. All those format changes coming for 2017 it's easy to forget that we have a new even lower downforce package. And the monster energy NASCAR cup series starting up at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
