NASCAR live also gives you in depth analysis with a more hands off personality because for me the decisive moment of the what plan check it out NASCAR live this Tuesday night at 7 eastern on the motor racing network. Mike but the ravages in the middle of an interest in transition as crew chief for the number fourteen afforded Stewart Haas racing. He says it was quite the ride during Tony Stewart's final cup season with Clint Boyer waiting in the wings. He yeah it was quite the whirlwind. But you know what do I went changes for the world's you know. Yeah I go through trials and tribulations and struggles and then that's what makes you stronger makes you better and prepares you for things in the future you know. Knew it was tough as a rookie but you know what there's a lot of people go through their careers and north to deal with all that stuff and I think it into the day. Does rowing and prepare Meehan and make me more aware of things you know for instance. Having to do last minute drivers last year and prepared different seats in the cars for different things along in my team. You know has prepared us for the changer this year clinic you know we know what items to start looking for and that we need to get ahead of to get ordered and get my house and and prepare and so you know I think it's in some ways helped us out in preparation. Going through all that and and with Tony struggles over the previous few years how gratifying was it for you guys to get that big Sonoma winner and make the chase and go out. Like. A future hall of they were kind of deserves and has last year. Yeah absolutely I mean you know mixed emissions on the season but did you know definitely we wanted to get him away and and we did and and we wanted to compete in the chase and we did and you know of course you always want you better at the end of the day worries for championship rate we wanted to get win fifty and you know I didn't just work out in the end but. I think it was satisfying survey here's Stewart Haas racing for Tony himself and and get me my first win you know. It was a great time at all had a lot of ups to really look look back down. And you go from the swirl that is Tony Stewart to. A different cutter tornado with with Clint Boyer how much have you guys been talking and in trying to click because I think that's that and underestimate a part of our sport how important it is for you guys to click. Absolutely and it and it's not easy with you know the time constraints of how much we work and how much the driver works and so forth you know it's hard to kind of catch up a lot so. But to answer your question you know we started talking probably halfway through last year's season are ready just. What's so while you know talking about different things that he might be fine for the week ended just trying to get to know each other a little bit better and then. When the off week and started you know we start communicating even more and sat down with each other for a little Wallin and talk to a bit of in his house and and you know we just continue to communicate and I think you're right I think it's a big part of it is is being on the same page. Knowing what each other's expectations are and how to handle each other and and that's a good start of the season you know than the the second half of it is. Being at the racetrack after Iowa he needs in the car that will come. And now with the switch over to afford being thrown in the mix along the way as if there wasn't enough going on. Does that kind of level the playing field whereas if he was coming in to. So the program that you guys have established with the the Chevrolet is in in certain expectations there does this come make it easier to wipe the slate clean and say okay we're starting over. I'm yes and no you know I think I think no matter what it was gonna have its own challenges. I think for the fourteen team no matter what way we looked added it was. It was going to be a pretty big mountain to climb. I think just now as a company you will when it's done is you know now everybody here has some questions you know all the teams have been working together for years they got. New questions not. Just beyond a NASCAR rule change that we've had over the past few years but now with the manufacturer change. So for us I think it it's kind of nice because it in some ways equals us up to them so we can help contribute to the party right away to. Next Bordeaux on even lower downforce. And rules packages. Online and on the year MO RN is live from the drag on MRN dot com and the Mariana. Check out all MR in the race broadcasts pole qualifying and practice. Plus exclusive motor sports programming live or your computer or mobile device. In dot com to find your local radio stations online street don't miss this second NASCAR racing action. Listen live online at MRN dot com EM or an app for your local station. As you move into the season now you're also facing. And even lower downforce packages start with that last year and it seems like the engineers were able to get a chunk of that backed by the end of the season. But now it's it's almost like starting over again with even less downforce how confident are you that the path will be. Some what similar in that by the end of the year you have a chunk of that downforce back. Yeah I mean that's the you know that's what we do you know that's why we have some engineers know these teams anymore. Who we just continue to find although the little bits and pieces that new start stacking pennies and make a dollar eventually right and that's that's what NASCAR is noticed too and why they've gone the direction that they have of taking these down force cuts away you know in the drivers are row where that you and they like the lowdown force package so. You know. They know they have to keep the teams have been no way to really do it is to keep cut the Dow first ever gonna keep firing and more so I would definitely anticipate the same thing. Hum what we get it all back hard to say but I'm sure as all the organizations were located at large chunk of it. How confident are you now that everybody is on the same page not just here. But across the garage in terms of where we are rules package was not just with the car but. I mean over the wall crew. The cameras watching every move if you guys who make the restarts on all that are you pretty comfortable now as it seemed like. Now we've got this under our belt we can move forward. You know I think a lot of time with the cameras and that kind of thing like. He's got to do your job trying to block it out as much as you can and and you know you know what all the rules are and that and at the end of the day I think the one thing it does is it makes things a little more black and library so there's less. Arguing there's less you know at at the end of the day if I don't you of the pit road penalty of some sort we have video evidence should be you've done something wrong so. There's really not worth the energy of the effort to go argue it anymore in any move on from it learn from it and and proceed forward so I think. As an industry I wouldn't I would say but definitely for mean. It's more you just learned except exudes. What's the most fun thing you got to do over the offseason or. And if there is such a thing as an offseason holidays I guess is a better way to put it. You know every year we just get to go home I mean my wife my son and it's really the only time that our family back home in Pennsylvania gets to see here are sons of you know we got to go home and and visit with all them which is always a good time you know with my father in law on my brother in law we go and visit futile local over his craft breweries and and we got some snow there's got to play my son in the snow for awhile and and to spend time with all my family says that that's probably been the highlight so far there is a time we've been working hard here are set ups. Much of an Osce is not yeah I want reviews airports Rebecca there really is no such thing people don't really have a an appreciation for. What people call the offseason you guys are are restocking the shelves are getting ready for another year before you know it. Yeah no absolutely it's like. It's funny to call an offseason we should just caught an off weekend portion of the season. Because yeah or work and five days a week here you know I'm still in here ten to twelve hours a day five days a week and if this indeed be comes in we gotta be here on Saturday before Daytona gets here we're going to be years. You know it's all about preparation and especially with the mound we got to climb there's even more preparation than usual so. Yes hey it's it's. Not much suit I guess offseason is and always the best term forward to it that off off from racing I guess if that's there. This is contracts for Wednesday January 18. I'm what he came in Concord, North Carolina.
