They Hill Man Morning Show on demand. And more I'm always online pin on your schedule at WAS. Dot com. Our next guest is lucky that I am a little bit under the weather and I don't have the strength to be outraged and angry you know but I am delighted. To have representative Bryan Murray on the show we spent a lot of time talking about you Brian yesterday and the program I'm sure you heard about that. I guess I am a regular listener of the show and the catcher on great show and it was a little the typing what I heard yesterday and beyond as a yes. Really. All right well let's get into this. Yeah you you're filing this legislation which will put you entries on many of the roadways in Massachusetts route 393128. Etc. Is that accurate or or was here was your surprise that we were not accurately reporting the news was that fake news or is that actual news. That that's not no no no no no they know I mean I was surprised that byte by name and your show. Yeah I'll meet you talk a little bit about the bill could it you know got misconstrued. Bit you know the newspaper article. The intent of my bill is to be revenue neutral. And the idea here is that whole equity crop. Common law not a whole increases. I'm looking forward increased into polling. Pantries. Which would enlarge the cool operated that was a hole. And eat that thing funding levels that are there now so. The eight year is to reduce the disproportionate. Hit. That these central mass in the western mass striker as an effort numbered years. Com they have greater whole equity across the commonwealth of not looking com. You know add to hold above and beyond what is already that they are. I can I think. I mean forget that you and I epic LB you know kind of caught on to listen in and it's available sat. I you know I can see where confusion you know what I'm a bit but that's the intent of the bill it's really about coal equity. Let me take some the only nail LB has ever had on the head is into his own. Into his own net so first of just if you don't want if you wanna align yourself with that guy over there that is here. Satisfied that I get I get what you're saying. So what you're saying is. Right now those people who are stuck on the mast pike. Are paying tolls and their covering. They're the only people paint tools you wanna put there you wanna put these other key entries up. So that everybody else pays there share of that same hole number that's essentially what you're saying right. Correct that the intent to spread the electronic pantries around the state. Yeah that's why did the bill at this point and shoot it quite have the so right now is just the initial filing. It would go through a number of iteration and Anna and then says exactly hopefully build consensus was about other legislatures. And I tried to keep the flexible operable this particular point but the idea received increased security throughout the state. So that the polling impact could be wet and on drivers on the Mass Pike he does right now. You know other than the Tobin Bridge that little hole in the in in the stadium amassed I could accuse the under variety project even though I think. You know I mean it's supposed to go to the mat I'd get a ticket so little sketchy in terms of the math. So so it's really. You know an attempt. And try to bring some bitterness primarily to the central mass struggle to the district that I ever present but also the western mass drivers well. The idea for him we get a little hole equity by eliminating all its goals and then no equal pay any tolls how about one. Well I mean he you know I mean I think that's a good question because you know if it were it not abuse told the on transportation. But why protect the central and what the map the only people there really hang out not to file. Wanted to file a bill to get rid of the polls entirely and say look we got a gas tax which just went up three cents a gallon last time last go round. We got excise tax Lucia people pay for that haven't in the maintenance on the on the town roads etc. And then we got every other I mean everything in the state you guys tax you guys practically put attacks are attacks in the state. And and it and it seems to me it would be far include the pike was pretty poor. Years ago you know I mean the building of the pike was part of that so what you want you focused on the Bryant. Well I mean you know that's certainly a legitimate argument over and you know what I'm trying to deal with this particular Philip the duke glee that. Ray the debate start the conversation I mean we can all you know sit around and you know complain about the fact that you know we're we're paying tolls in the central mat what you strive to get Egypt with it and nothing really happens you know. I thought that a put is out of that joke about me sitting around you saying and I'm just sitting around and not getting enough exercise. You know I don't know OK okay. Like it a choice here very rigorous trip to England have sponsors yeah yeah yeah. I'll let you know we're really what I'm trying to do with it generated the action generate its that they. He what makes sense in terms of equitable and they're finding. Or transportation and in the enemy he you know we're dealing with it let them saying is that that a blanket from the ask the big state caucuses they'll layer that is drawing. But until late from actual road project. Into the MBTA all week as. You know a certain number of problems that need to be dealt with responsibly. You know that grind the way you know some broad front. So that the big discussion that we need to chat about transportation. And hopefully this'll start at the option but certainly you know that could be caught up that the. I. Brought Murray I was surprised to learn is that not all the money in our excise tax that we're paying goes to road maintenance transportation it is betting RB you know. That can be used for whatever the the town's one to use it for. Is that true yeah. Yet excite taxes totally separate that's not a state accept the pact the growth. Directed the cities and towns and then goes into the city and town operating budget so. I mean to the degree that spirit they portion of the city and county budget that goes to a rotary air. That excite that goes back that excite tax code to that portion but not exclusively. You know committed to two road and transportation project certainly nothing to do with state at all. That's up the city and town that go to the operating budget to say you don't say the police fighters school in in Rhode. It costs a 650000. Dollars. A year per mile. Maintain the pike do you think 75675. Do you think that's a legitimate number forty that we could well have that there may be a little bit a touch a touch. Well I I think you need to go. Beyond that number and you know there was this nation to my attention about that record that that that had that information. And basically that report relied on information from twenty and and also under estimated I think by decree of a boat war. The roll idol. The they actually maintained and there are a local roads that are not included in that said he. Com and and also wrote over a different state agencies that for the conservation of resources for example. That are not included in that report like that there are some some problems with that number and I think if you take into account the actual role model. That the state does have a role in maintaining that number a lot last. We are talking right out talking with a representative Bryan Murray. Who is proposing that we create poll equity. By putting two entries are and other roadways so that the central mass drivers. Do not bear the burden when it comes to the polls that they're paying. I'm wondering how much each of these entries cost and and how we pay for that. That another excellent point that's got to be part of that discussion that's why I left you initial filing the flexible date yet. So that is we hopefully get into the pot this week and we can make a determination not grass I think Angel. Is it's the way it works in Massachusetts where we put up big entries at a cost them a couple hundred million and then we have the tools and pay for those entries that we put up. The deal I think that's probably the way it's gonna work right and that those holes will have a very ugly and not rusty how could she. So well. I don't know that exactly the way it worked let let let you know that that's you know that definitely going to be out of conversation no question about. Now did you. And I don't wanna go all our heart graze on you hear about just did you. Do you did you vote for the for the parents. I did deteriorate OPEC. I mean could that have been when it comes to the opportunity to eliminate loopholes. In general. For your constituents. That would have been one way did you that you could get port that is is by by not voting for pay rates for for yourself this. Well I mean there are a number I think that that come opted to drive revenue needs you know you have a great. You know if you know just that I don't wanna how much Time Warner in the late. But you know that they really primarily was rejected and you know the information that we had. Judges in Massachusetts ranked forty step out of it he states in terms of pay grade I think that it chooses judges. Our our top notch we have several you know national precedent setting cases they say you know. Increase the pay Philly police make it come. In. And out of his. Go to the leadership of B a legislature and constitutional. Opposite. The number had been. Stagnant since 1980 coup so you're talking SPN a 35 years and you know I just got elected this year right you know so I don't really get it. Choice of what I voted on get presented to me something that had been sitting out the dirty side he has. And then adjusted net tiger in the loop look at 2008. Looked at 2014. And it came before but you know for leadership positions. That hadn't been ejected in 1982. You know I thought it made sense to do that. Let's Debra Ryan. Discard it college pay equity. We were looking for pay equity in the learn all I heard ala officials in the state of Massachusetts that's only give me an opportunity to give myself a pay raise you do it well bay I don't trigger on with these tests the house out. And at let me be clear till the break fitness technique I am a freshman legislature I don't have a leadership position. I get no pay increase at all so I did not give myself any increase at all. None of humor it is said that you you have to eat I think you said that you were told he had the ball way right. You know I don't know I I I know what I meant to say. Was that the issue was presented to nobody told me out of Obama. What I meant what I meant to say it was the issue came by I don't get a chance to shoot the issue. Like so like I I wanna vote on this or don't want Obama met you know just presented to that particular racial ethnic. All right so we're gonna figure out how much it's gonna cost to put all these entries up. And that'll be a part of the bill with the it's is it isn't giving you gonna know by the time that the legislation is filed how much that's gonna cost. Well I mean what what happens now is an initial bill violence okay that that start the process. It goes through different committee hearing. There at those particular juncture and other legislatures hopefully will all participate. You know we'll get the Department of Transportation and all. There will be changes to it amendments to it to try to build consensus. Over you know whether or not this does is it feasible idea so. If the long no pun intended it's it's a long road ahead for four or ten piece of legislation particularly that's what. I gotta tell you something. This is just one this is just one person speaking. I I would highly recommend that you reconsider on this I don't think we need more holes I think we need less polls and if should this legislation passed and and and I am gonna end up. Paying additional holes like the rest of the hard working people in this state. Then I get a tie you can you can pry it from my cold dead transponder okay that's. Bryant the outsourcing and right now Brian you comprise the additional polls from my cold dead transponder. OK well I I I don't wanna do that and I heard of besides your hands. Explain it at its best shot did just that she shot small in the joke. I thought it you know get it any of that sort of thing out but you know this week in and is that not. Have an increase in coal the intent is this threat out the told Burton and eat Kris coal that central of the map in the western mass drivers are now footing the bill or Kurt. I've been have you lived here hey have you lived here your whole life. Oh yeah yeah let me ask you this you have the holes ever has there ever been a decrease in the tool ever in the history of polling. So well I mean the older any error percent I don't know has ever gone down here and it's just got here I know he's proposing that never happens they just don't opt. You're right they're not hopes its identity. It it it it never happened because you know you don't have. Situations where people want to change the course of conversation yeah Heidi yeah it's it's it's it's not it's Friday do you get a copy it from from different sides of people let's sit sit oppose this for whatever reason. But you know they could never gonna change unless we put something on the table just started that they can change the conversation and that's what we're trying to built. All right well listen IE I appreciate the fact he came on the showing all your listeners then I hope that's I hope that this doesn't mean that you and I are not gonna. You're not gonna listen the show anymore just because we disagree and say I you know. Don't know AM I'm real back feel fortunate to the other show I I didn't even have to participate in the air. Your music tribute band contests between you and Mike Hsu because that would get some to metal yeah. Right now well listen you are as as you mentioned you're a you're a freshman wrap. And I should this thing passes. I hope you enjoy your one turns. That's about it all right I'm just I'm fair warning from the start over here all right. Well again we're trying to change the debate would try to start a conversation and we'll see the black and tolls from the central mass western messy area. All right the intent that's what I'm trying to build. All right Brian thanks for being non and I'm sure we'll have you on again as this moves forward or does not move forward. Book that I really appreciate it and I enjoyed the show are right there you have the state representative. Primary.
