Event Description:

A “Benefit for Breath in Honor of Amy S.”, will be held for COTA in honor of Amy Scafidi, a Somerville resident who needs a lung transplant. The event is planned for Saturday, June 23rd 4-8PM at Sissy K’s and Wild Rover in Boston. 32-year-old patient Amy received a lifesaving double-lung transplant on Sunday June 17th at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to this, she had spent most of the previous 3 weeks in a medically-induced coma. Funds are being raised in honor of Amy to assist with transplant-related expenses. 

The benefit will include dinner, karaoke, a silent auction, cash bar, and photo booth to commemorate the night. The Wild Rover is located right next to Faneuil Hall at 61-63 Chatham St Boston, MA 02109. Taking public transportation is recommended, but there is also public parking nearby. The cost of this event will be $25 per person online and $30 at the door and tickets can be purchased at  Amy was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a child and has lived with it her most of her life. Local volunteers are raising an estimated $ 65K for COTA in honor of Amy to assist with transplant-related expenses throughout her lifetime. 

“The family and friends of Amy Scafidi want to encourage everyone to attend our Benefit for Breath in Honor of Amy S and help give Amy a second chance at life,” said Volunteer Community Coordinator Janine Skipper. “100% of the profits from the Benefit for Breath will assist with transplant-related expenses.”

Amy’s family has asked for assistance from the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), a national charity based in Bloomington, Indiana. COTA is dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are completely free of charge, and 100% of funds generated by COTA community fundraising campaigns are available for transplant-related expenses.
