Watch Corey Taylor Teach Kids About The Music Industry

September 12, 2017

While visiting the School of Rock Green Valley in Henderson, Nevada, Stone Sour/Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor sat down with some future rock stars for an informal Q&A session.

Taylor was asked about how he first entered music, the masks he uses in Slipknot, finding your passion, and surviving the music industry. "It's tough, especially when you're kind of put in the position to have to be the boss," says Taylor. "It's all about being able to relegate and delegate, basically. So I know there are certain areas where my managers and my accountants, they do their thing. They're the same managers and accountants I've had for fifteen years. So I don't worry about that, because we work closely, and I also know that - not that anything would ever happen, but if anything would happen, there are other people who would let me know. So I have safeguards and trust, basically."

When asked if he could go back in time and give his younger self advice, Taylor responded, "You know what I would say to him? 'Don't change anything.' To be honest I'm completely happy with the way everything turned out." He continued, saying, "I have had incredible success. I've had some really low, low, low points in my life. But I had to go through all of that stuff to be here today, and by changing anything, then that would mean that I'm not happy with where I'm at. I'm absolutely ecstatic with where I'm at in my life."
