Steven Adler Wants Guns N' Roses' Full Original Lineup To Reunite; Fears That 'Rock Is Dead'

February 7, 2017

Steven Adler, former drummer for Guns N' Roses recently took part in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) where fans can openly ask him any questions they want. Among them were questions surrounding his limited involvement with the Not In Your Lifetime tour, to which he said both himself and guitarist Izzy Stradlin "really do wanna be a part" of the reunion, except only if it were the original lineup from Appetite for Destruction.

Adler appeared in a handful of dates during GNR's reunion tour, while Stradlin had refused to make similar guest spots that could have earned him a five-figure sum per appearance.

After being asked if he'll have a larger part in future GNR shows, Adler responded, saying, "I had a great time last year doing the couple shows that I got to do with them... If it was going to be just the five original guys with [Izzy] and AxlSlash, and Duff and myself, then yes I will, but otherwise, it's not the magic and it's not fair to the fans. Me and [Izzy] actually really do wanna be a part of it."

Changing subjects, Adler spoke on the modern state of rock n' roll and although he won't be joining the ranks of Gene Simmons of KISS and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers who say that "rock is dead," he is very dissatisfied. "All I know is that the gods of rock are pissed!” Adler said. “I think I am afraid rock ‘n’ roll might be dead. There are just no great bands out there. The last great band that I know of was the Foo Fighters, and that was 25 years ago.”
