A band can go through many changes throughout its career.  Some are well received, and some not so much.  As with life, the music of a band can evolve and develop into something that might fit the  creator’s particular moment.  The key is to keep the actual core identity intact.  Well for one heavy metal act, the numerous fluctuations over time have not shaken their musical ideals.

The band CORROSION OF CONFORMITY has been categorized as many different genres over its almost forty year history.  No matter where the listener thought the group’s artistic direction was oriented, the sound has always stayed true to the ideal of them making something honest. That is a hard thing to do when the roster of a band has had more than a few updates.  Well I guess in this instance, the variety in life is the spice that makes this group’s catalog so flavorful!

I recently had the chance to sit down with Corrosion of Conformity bassist and founding member Mike Dean to talk about all things music.  Take a listen to our chat about squirreling away riffs and lyrics, the work ethic of new bands, working on the production side compared to the performer side, and whether the band is going to take any left turns with a possible follow up to ‘No Cross No Crown.’  It seems that the road might not be a straight one for Corrosion of Conformity, but it is still going in the right direction…
