Is Mick Box of Uriah Heep still Living the Dream?

May 29, 2019

What does it mean to be “living the dream?”  Does it mean that you get to live a life that many are envious of, or does it mean living a life of ease and comfort?  For some, it seems to mean “If You Love What You Do, You’ll Never Work A Day In Your Life.”  How realistic is that concept though?  I mean is that really possible to achieve?  Well for one rock guitarist, the last 50 years have been just that!

The band URIAH HEEP is currently out on the road supporting their most recent album “Living The Dream” and if you talk to the band’s founding guitarist Mick Box, he couldn’t be any happier!  Since the band is celebrating its 50th anniversary, Mick must be having one hell of a good time to stay in the music game this long.  To borrow a popular millennial mantra, it appears Mick Box is “living his best life!”

I mean don’t get me wrong; it hasn’t always been easy for Mick and the band.  It never really is for any musician to be honest.  Even with line-up changes, industry failures, and fickle trends in music, one thing has always remained constant with Uriah Heep… Mick Box.

I recently caught up Mick Box backstage at the Mohegan Sun Arena to talk about all things music.  Take a listen to our chat about the band Greta Van Fleet, if there is something wrong with music nowadays, being on tour with Judas Priest, and URIAH HEEP’s induction into the Hall of Heavy Metal History.
