Surviving the music industry has never been easy.  Being artistically talented is not enough to get by anymore.  You need to be not only business savvy, but unmercifully motivated as well.  Unfortunately, many don’t possess all of those skills… no matter what level of instruction they may have received.  Well for one Massachusetts artist, the love of Rock-n-Roll has inspired him to become multi-faceted enough to carry on in the musical world.

BEN COTE is a local guitarist, songwriter, and frontman of his namesake group THE BEN COTE BAND.  That isn’t all he does though.  He learned early on that he needed to possess a diverse skill set to have even the slightest of chances to make it in the music industry.  You see, Ben is a Berklee College of Music graduate, but that pedigree wasn’t all he needed to navigate the waters of the business.  He realized he needed to work twice as hard compared to what was expected!  This is not a career choice for the lazy… to put it bluntly.

I recently had the chance to sit down with Ben Cote to talk about all things music.  Take a listen to our chat about the difficulties of the Boston music scene, using all that Berklee College of Music has to offer, local boutique guitar builders, releasing new albums and videos, and not wanting to play someone else’s music.
