MTV Revitalizes "TRL," Proceeds To Play Zero Music Videos

At this point, can anybody really be surprised?

TRL, the crown jewel of MTV of the '90s into the early 2000's was revamped on October 2nd after a nine-year abscence. Was it going to be like the old times where viewers would wait in anticipation for who siezed the No. 1 spot in the top ten music videos?

Nah. Most likely because the new version of TRL featured absolutely zero music videos. It took a moment of silence to remember the victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas, only to segway segments like "Major Key Motivation" from DJ Khaled who sat upon a white throne, some live music from Ed Sherran and Migos, and a "cameo" of former host Carson Daly via photograph. Plus, who could forget this cringeworthy jem of YouTuber Liza Koshy "trying" to get audience members to twerk with her?

In an age where a new generation of potential viewers digest their content via smartphones, could even MTV lose relevance with their target audience? Only time will tell.

And in case you were wondering if there was any mention of Tom Petty? You guessed it. Nope.
