True Tales Of Bloody Drunkenness With The Hollywood Vampires As Told By Alice Cooper

September 15, 2015

The Hollywood Vampires started out as somewhat of a social club for, according to Alice Cooper, "drinkers who could really drink".  The rule was, you had to out-drink everyone to get in.  Cooper was so good at it he became the club's President.  Just to give you an idea of how impressive that is, notable hotel room destroyer Keith Moon only made it to VP.  Other members of this heavy duty tippler's club included, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Harry Nilsson, Jim Morrison and Marc Bolan from T Rex.  What do all these legendary artists have in common?  They're dead.

Alice Cooper remembers them all on the newly released Hollywood Vampires album through covers of their songs and two originals, "Raise The Dead" and the shanty-like anthem "My Dead Drunk Friends".  This time around there's not an inebriated soul in the house.  It's a gathering of survivors like Joe Perry(Aerosmith), Slash, Brian Johnson(ACDC), Joe Walsh, Perry Farrell(Jane's Addiction), Sir Paul McCartney, and Johnny Depp, who, as Alice explains in the interview below, was the motivator for this musical history lesson.
