Thanks To Mookie Betts, America Gets Free Tacos

October 24, 2018

For the last 11 MLB seasons, Taco Bell has been running a promotion granting America free tacos if a player from either team competing in the World Series steals a base during any of the seven games. Wasting no time, Red Sox right-fielder Mookie Betts has become the hero America needed in Game 1. Now today is the big day.

Setting the Red Sox's aggressive tone early in the game, Betts was able to steal second base thanks to an off-target throw by Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes. Betts even confessed to FOX Sports that the thought of free tacos were part of his motivation. "We said be aggressive early, trying to get a run across, and on top of that I just wanted some tacos.”

On Thursday, November 1st between 2pm and 6pm, Taco Bell will be giving away a free Doritos Locos Taco by downloading a free taco voucher online. If it's any consolation to Barnes and his lousy throw, he gets free tacos too.
