Schadenfreude: pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune.

Being a parent is not easy by any means.  The best advice out of all of the unsolicited advice I got when we were expecting our daughter was: “Once you get used to something, It will change”

That has been very true.  Both in many good and many challenging ways.  Sometimes, your child(or children) can make you feel the highest of highs and so proud.  You feel like you just can’t love them enough.  Other times, you’re giving them the finger behind their backs. (C’mon, who hasn’t done that…to their 7 year old?)

Sometimes you inadvertently attain Schadenfreud.  Listen, I’m not saying I’m holding grudges against my kid for things she has done in the past like all those times she seemed ungrateful for my ultimate sacrifice (Red Sox game) as a parent to secure her happiness (driving her and her friends to go rollerskating).  Just saying, sometimes you get those small victories.

Just to be clear, I’m not speaking for the woman in this video.  But I’m just willing to bet she’ll watch this video the next time her daughter gives her “that look” or her son maxes out his emergency credit card at a strip club.
