Maynard James Keenan Explains Delays With New Tool Album
While appearing on the Joe Rogan podcast, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan went into detail as to why the band's new album continues to be delayed after it was announced that fans could expect a 2017 release. Time certainly appears to be the main issue facing the band, as all of the writing, mixing, recording, tracking and editing all need to be met by certain deadlines, and his Tool bandmates are a little more meticulous when it comes to writing material. Not to mention with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer also demanding his attention, Maynard wants to avoid spreading himself too thin.
"Their writing process is so drawn out. I'm sure there's a lot of reasons that go into why the delay has been so long," says Keenan. "But when you have a project like that, there's always going to be time for me to do other things, and I would definitely... I just like doing it. I like doing it more. I like to release records and write things a little more quickly than those guys like to write. Their process is very analytical."
"There has to be some fear in there. Is this record going to be as good as the last one? The anicipation now is... the pressure is huge."
