At the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, Madonna gave her tribute to the late artist with a rendition of "Nothing Compares 2 U" only to be joined later by Stevie Wonder for a duet of "Purple Rain".

Before Madonna took the stage, Quest Love of The Roots gave a brief, but sincere speech in honor of Prince's music, his contributions, and how he'll still live on for future generations. "All of us live in the land of music, and his departure from it was an earthquake ... His departure leaves behind so much work still to do, and we can follow the trails he blazed."

However Madonna's tribute to Prince has come under much scrutiny. Particularly from BET, who tweeted a video with the caption: "Yeah, we saw that. Don't worry. We got you." Viewers are expected to see a more impressive tribute at the BET Awards, which air Sunday, June 26th at 8pm.
