Not many people could have pictured pop star Lady Gaga as big fan of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. In an interview with CR Fashion Book, she explains why she would rather be seen as the new Iron Maiden than the queen of pop Madonna.

"They're one of the greatest rock bands in history, in my opinion," She said of Iron Maiden. "Some people really don't know the importance of metal and the scope of it. Those guys were filling stadiums, and they still are. And it's because of the culture of the music, the poetry that's so powerful, that whenever the fans come together, they unite in the essence of what Iron Maiden is all about. I always used to say to people, when they would say, 'Oh, she's the next Madonna.' No, I'm the next Iron Maiden."

Gaga recently completed a photoshoot for CR Fashion Book donning two separate wedding dresses, with one of them being an all-black '80s homage to heavy metal with an Iron Maiden "Number Of The Beast" t-shirt. She posted the image of the photoshoot to her twitter account:

It seems that Iron Maiden approves of Gaga's tribute

It turns out that Lady Gaga has been very vocal for her love for heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. She can also be seen in photos of Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees with Alice Cooper and Charlie Benante of ANTHRAX.

She first spoke her love of Maiden back in 2011 after attending one of their shows from the "Frontier" tour. "I just saw Iron Maiden on their 'Frontier' tour and it totally changed my life. It was my first Maiden experience and I just realized in that moment in the show that that was the kind of artist I wanted to be. I didn't want people 30 years from now coming to see my show to see if I've still got it. But rather I wanted them to be fully unified, fists in the air, wanna hear every song. Iron Maiden's a lifestyle and those fans live and die by Maiden."

Priest's lead singer Rob Halford is also a fan of Gaga's. In June 2015, Halford said in an interview that he hopes of one day collaborating with Lady Gaga. "That lady is a heavy metal maniac. She loves [JudasPriest, she loves Iron Maiden, she loves Motorhead - all of these kinds of heavy metal bands that have been roaring on throughout the decades; she's a big fan of all of them."

He continued saying, "You have to cut through a lot of the visual stuff with Gaga and then get to what her voice is about. For me, as a singer, as a fellow singer, she's absolutely sensational and I would love at some point to do something with her. I don't know if that's ever gonna happen, but it's on my bucket list."
