Kurt Cobain's Guitar From His Last Tour Is Being Auctioned Off

April 18, 2016

The auction company that has previously sold off memorabilia belonging to the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain like his credit card and his famous green sweater is now auctioning off one of the grunge legend's guitars.

CooperOwen will be auctioning off a black and white Fender Stratocaster that Cobain actually gave to Guillaume Enault, who attended Nirvana's show in Rennes, France in February 1994. Enault maintains that Cobain had not used the guitar while they were touring in Europe, but did use it during their U.S. tour.

The guitar is said to be used "specifically for the end of set jamming and destruction." Bidding for the guitar starts at $85,000 and it is expected to reach more than $170,000. Bidding officially starts on May 20th.
