Tuukka Takes Time

Tuukka Rask granted a leave of absence.

November 9, 2018

"Effective today, Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask has been granted a leave of absence relating to a personal matter.”

Well this seems to explain a lot. We hope all is well with Rask and hope to see him back to normal soon. This 2018-2019 season has been one of Tuukka's  toughest starts in his career, and this has people wondering what has been going on with the number one goalie for Boston. Well, now we know there is obviously something up. Tuukka hasn’t looked himself so far this year. But he’s human, I mean not all of us feel 100% at our jobs EVERYDAY either! And if you do feel 100% all day everyday, then you’re for sure one of those robots we are all getting replaced by!

Bruins fans have no reason to worry while Rask is out. It helps to have one of the top goalies in the league as your backup. Jaroslav Halak was #1 in the league for save percentage up until yesterdays 8-5 loss to Vancouver. Halak has now slipped into the 4th spot overall in the league for save percentage, which is still pretty good considering he’s our backup option to Rask and already has 2 shutouts on his impressive start to the season! Not to mention Brandon Carlo has been stepping up big time this year by saving multiple pucks from crossing the goal line at the last second with some highlight reel saves. Being a defenseman Carlo says he’s just doing his job, but he’s been going above a beyond this year and I think he should be named an honorary third goalie for the Bruins!

Tuukka, take your time. Hit the reset button when you get everything all sorted out and we’ll see ya back at the rink! In the meantime Halak and Brandon “The Goal Crease Kid” Carlo will hold down the fort for you!
