Metallica’s Lars Ulrich Honors RUSH's Neil Peart With Instagram Post

Yesterday, it was announced that the music industry lost a legend. Drummer Neil Peart of Rush died at the age of 67. The icon had quietly been battling brain cancer for three and a half years, the band said in a statement.

Countless musicians have taken to social media to honor the legendary drummer with special messages and photos. Metallica's Lars Ulrich took to Instagram to pay tribute to Peart and all that he had done for drummers everywhere.

"Thank you Neil. Thank you for inspiring me and for all your help and advice along the way, especially in the early days when you took the time to talk to a young green Danish drummer about recording, gear and the possibilities that lay ahead..." he wrote in the caption.

In 18 hours, the post has already garnered almost 100K likes and well over 1K comments. Ulrich went on to say, "Thank you for what you did for drummers all over the world with your passion, your approach, your principles and your unwavering commitment to the instrument! Rest In Peace."

Peart's impact on the world will always be remembered -- he was one of the greatest of all time!
