Children Listen To Metallica For The First Time With Mixed Results

September 9, 2016

Hopefully this doesn't make you feel old, but there is a generation of kids out there that have never heard, nor listened to Metallica before. In the video below, children aged from 8 to 13 gave their opinions of the band after listening to "Master of Puppets," "One," "Enter Sandman," and their newest single "Hardwired." As you can tell, there were varying results.

Some were positive:

"I would totally buy this song! It gets you in the zone!"
"How do I not know them yet?"
"It's actually good rock music!"

Some were negative:

"I don't think this classified as music."
"It doesn't make any sense."
"God it won't stop! Ugh."

Some had no idea:

"I'm guessing this is the Rolling Stones."
"I actually like this. It sounds like this other rock band named... Nirvana."

When shown an early photograph of the band from the '80s, the kids appear to have shared the same opinion of them after seeing what they look like for the first time:

"They look pretty... mad."
"They definitely give off a heavy metal feel."
"They look like they're sitting on a bench in prison because they just robbed a store."

Then when shown what they look like now:

"They still look like they can and would play heavy metal."
"They're like, 80!"
"You wouldn't really expect that kind of music from men their age."
