Watch Rival Sons Attempt To Sing Like Geoff Tate of Queensryche

April 25, 2019

Spending years on the road, touring across the world can be a very educational experience for any band. Rival Sons have toured with some of the biggest bands in the world like Judas Priest, Deep Purple, and Guns N' Roses. But in their 10+ year history as a band, one of the artists that sticks out the most is Geoff Tate of Queensryche. While in the WAAF studio with Mistress Carrie, Jay and Scott look back on the time when they overheard Tate's exemplary vocal warm-ups backstage.

"Warming up is weird for singers because they're these mighty creatures onstage, but we hear Hetfield in Some Kind of Monster warming up and it's like 'Mooommy mooommmy mooommy mommmy!'," says Scott. But when hearing Tate warm up, "It's just him doing his thing." "And he sounds incredible," adds Jay.

"And them he warms down! He's the only singer we've toured with that after the show he's like in the shower," says Scott. "They just played a full set, and again, Whoaaaaaaahhhhh!"

If Geoff Tate capitalized on recording ringtones, he could really make a killing.
