The seemingly endless wait for Tool's new album has become a running joke in the rock and metal communities. The anticipated release gets pushed back further and further while Tool fans anxiously await any sort of good news. But while appearing on the Metal Sucks Podcast, drummer Danny Carey may have done just that.

The subject of the album was at the forefront of questions that needed answers, and Carey delivered the news by saying, "It'll be out in 2018." Listen to the full podcast here.

Frontman Maynard James Keenan appeared on the Joe Rogan Podcast and explained that part of the reason why for the album's delay is because the band's writing process takes so long. "Their writing process is so drawn out. I'm sure there's a lot of reasons that go into why the delay has been so long," says Keenan.

So could Carey be telling the truth? Or could another delay await Tool fans in the future? Only time will tell.
