Three Years Ago: Scott Weiland Dies From A Drug Overdose

December 3, 2018

On December 3rd, 2015, the rock world was left in total shock and disbelief as former Stone Temple Pilots frontman, Scott Weiland, was found dead on his tour bus.

The toxicology report indicated that Weiland died of an accidental overdose of alcohol, cocaine and methylenedioxyamphetamine (aka "MDA"). The report also suggested that Weiland's history of heart disease, breathing problems and substance abuse were also likely factors in his death.

Although Weiland was a very talented performer and singer, it was his long history of substance abuse and drama that ultimately lead to the breakup of STP in 2002.

Weiland later fronted Velvet Revolver with members of Guns N' Roses for two albums from 2002 to 2008 before returning for STP's reunion in 2013. But due to personal issues and reckless behavior, Weiland was dismissed from the band and replaced by Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington.

From there, Weiland went on to release a couple of solo albums and a record for his latest band Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts.
