Rob Halford Wants To Be A Judge on "RuPaul's Drag Race"

October 23, 2019

Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford has long been an advocate for members of the LGBTQ community since he publicly came out as gay during an interview on MTV in 1998. During a recent interview with Yahoo, Halford voiced his praise for programs like Queer Eye and even announced that he even hopes of one day being a judge on RuPaul's Drag Race.

"I just love that show just for every emotional dimension of what's being presented," says Halford. "The strength, the power. Just from a simple 'this is your task. Achieve it in this amount of time.' The interaction, and the support, and the fun, and the bitchiness, and all this kind of stuff. It's great. It's a beautiful insight to a part of our world and it's really important."

So one day viewers could be in store for a heavy metal-themed episode of RuPaul's Drag Race, with Halford as a possible judge. "Get all the drag queens in full-on metal," adds Halford. "Let's do it, Ru!"

The Judas Priest vocalist shared his high regard for programs centered around the LGBTQ community for giving audiences a look into their world as well as stripping away stigmas that are still attached. "Show like Ru's show, or the Queer Eye show, these things are wonderful opportunities for people that don't know about us," Halford said. "Just to look and listen and learn. That whole thing about we are your bus driver, we are your nurse at school, we are your judge court. We're their airline pilot. We are everywhere. Just taking away and destroying this horrible pushback that we have. Even today we're about to get to 2020 and we still have to talk about this."
