Rami Malek Could Earn An Oscar Nomination For Portraying Freddie Mercury

September 5, 2018

Bohemian Rhapsody will be hitting theaters November 2nd, 2018, and there is already buzz that actor Rami Malek could be eyeing an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury. However, Malek says that although an Oscar would be nice, earning the approval to play Mercury from the surviving members of Queen is a much greater honor.

"The greatest honor, I think, from playing someone like Freddie Mercury is getting the acceptance of the legendary bandmates," Malek said on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Malek later described that the first scene he filmed for the movie as Freddie was Queen's legendary performance at LIVE AID was also one of the scariest moments he's experienced. Especially since Brian May, Roger Taylor and Brian Deacon were present on set the whole time! "It was the most terrifying thing ever!" says Malek.
