Pearl Jam Named as 2019's Record Store Day Ambassadors

February 12, 2019

Aside from being National Scrabble day, April 13th marks the one time of the year where music fans support and celebrate local and independent record stores known as Record Store Day.

Every year special vinyl, CD releases and exclusive merch and goodies are put on display that would not be found anywhere online.

Record Store Day also names its "ambassador" whose job it is to spread awareness for fans to support their local record stores and local artists. Previous Ambassadors included Metallicam Jack White, Ozzy Osbourne, and the Foo Fighters, and in 2019 Pearl Jam will take up the mantle.

“Independent record stores are hugely important to me, and have been ever since I was 12 years-old," says Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready. "Before I even really knew what they were — there was a certain feeling of ‘this is a dream come true,’ and it’s a wonderland and there’s so much to learn in here… and it’s still that way.”
