Nikki Sixx Bashes Steel Panther, Calling Them a 'Wanna Be Band' and 'A**holes'

October 18, 2019

Steel Panther prides themselves on not taking themselves too seriously and just settling for good times, loud music, and lots of inappropriate jokes. However, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx isn't laughing along to the band's antics.

In a post to his Twitter, Sixx wrote, "The singer in steal panther can go f**k himself… wanna be band putting down Vince Neil?"

Sixx's reaction follows an interview in which Steel Panther's Michael Starr and Stix Zadinia were asked which musician from the past they would like to bring back to the present, to which Starr answered with Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe. After Zadinia informs Starr that the singer is still alive, Starr clarifies that he would like to bring back the Vince Neil from the band's hay days in the '80s.

After one fan pointed out that Steel Panther sometimes performs Mötley Crüe songs with Vince Neil, Sixx responded by saying "That's why they are a**holes. Backstabbers."

This isn't the first time the two bands have rubbed each other the wrong way. Zadinia revealed in a 2017 interview that their 2011 tour with Mötley Crüe was the only time they felt unwelcome by another band. He believed that the members of Crüe thought that Steel Panther were making fun of them directly, to which he believed could be the result of heightened egos and none of their antics was ever a jab at them.

Starr revealed in a separate interview that drummer Tommy Lee hated how they would poke fun at Vince Neil, even though Starr says Neil is okay with it.
