Hetfield will be playing officer Bob Hayward, described as a no-nonsense veteran of the Utah highway patrol who was the first law enforcement officer that arrested Bundy in 1975. Hayward had pulled the killer over and discovered burglary tools in his car, but suspected that Bundy had something a lot more nefarious in mind.

The film was directed by Oscar nominee Joe Berlinger (Paradise Lost), who also directed Metallica's 2004 documentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.
