Weezer Fans Are Surprisingly Violent In 'SNL' Sketch

December 16, 2018

There are lots of hot-button issues that are sure to ruin a Christmas party: politics, personal relationships, awful neighbors, politics. But the last thing anyone would have guessed that would divide the crowd over the holidays is Weezer's musical catalogue.

Saturday Night Live aired a sketch in where Matty Damon and Leslie Jones play a pair of hardcore Weezer fans with splitting viewpoints over the band's discography. Damon is a ride-or-die fan that loves all of their albums, "They just set a release date for the freakin' Black Album. I mean they're playing 'New Year's Rock n' Eve'. C'mon it's Weezer!"  While Jones is an openly critical fan with strong opinions of Green Album, Make Believe and Pacific Daydream. "Real Weezer fans know that they haven't had a good album since Pinkerton in '96."

And it all goes downhill from there.

"'Pork and Beans' is better than 'Buddy Holly," says Damon.
"Oh! I'm sorry, you're dumb! Martha, tell him he's dumb!" replies Jones.

And then it gets worse.

"Weezer died when Matt Sharp left," says Jones.
"Weezer didn't start until Scott Shriner got there," reponds Damon.
"Oh, you tryin' to die!" says Jones.
