Kurt Cobain's 'MTV Unplugged' Sweater is Being Auctioned Off

October 9, 2019

To own a piece of real rock memorabilia is to own a piece of music history. Whether it's an autographed guitar or a rare vinyl release, it can feel like you're turning a piece of your home into a rock n' roll museum. Now Nirvana fans have the chance to own an unforgettable piece of the band's history: Kurt Cobain's famous olive-green cardigan worn at their MTV Unplugged session at Sony Studios in New York City.

The garment is being auctioned off in the Icons & Idols: Rock 'N' Roll Auction by Julien's Auctions along with Cobain's custom-built left-handed Fender Mustang guitar used during their In Utero tour.

Other items up for bid include a snare drum played by Keith Moon of The Who, a custom-made DW drum kit from Black Sabbath's 2012-2014 reunion tour, the Grateful Dead’s original recording contract with Warner Bros., handwritten lyrics by Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, and Elvis Presley's 1968 solid rosewood Fender Telecaster electric guitar.
