Kanye West Wants His Song Nominated In The 2019 Grammys' Rock Categories

October 24, 2018

If you thought rock's contemptuous relationship with major music award shows couldn't get any worse, just wait until Kanye West enters the picture.

According to TMZ, the rapper reportedly submitted his song "Freee (Ghost Town Pt. 2)"  with Kid Cudi to the Grammys for "Best Rock Song" and "Best Rock Performance." Submissions for the screening process have already begun, and if Kanye's song gets enough support from voters in the first round, he could receive the nomination.

Even though the song features live drums and guitars, Kanye and his team believe that is enough for him to land a spot in a rock category.

This news follows the American Music Awards giving hip-hop group Migos the award for "Best Pop/Rock Group", with plenty of outrage from the rock community.
