Jay Weinberg Recreates His First Meeting with Slipknot

September 3, 2019

Once upon a time, Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg was just another big fan of the band. In 2005 when he was barely a teenager, he got the chance to meet the band face-to-face during a local show after an appearance on Conan O'Brien's show, in which his father, Max Weinberg was the bandleader.

Then during their recent stop in New Jersey, Weinberg recreated a photograph of his first time meeting the band with his father and guitarist Jim Root.

"Time is a flat circle," Weinberg wrote on his Instagram, quoting Matthew McConaughey's famous True Detective line.

What can I say. It was amazing to come home. Thank you, New Jersey. Thank you so fucking much. #WeAreNotYourKind

Fun fact: it was also around the same time in which Slipknot's opening act, the Slipnutz made their one-time debut. Although, Slipknot's fans didn't exactly warm up to them.
