Courtney Love's Ex-Son In Law To Receive Mental Health Examination in Cobain Guitar Lawsuit

July 30, 2019

Isaiah Silva, the ex-husband to Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, will receive a mental health evaluation as part of a lawsuit over ownership of Cobain's MTV Unplugged guitar.

In 2018, Silva filed a lawsuit against Love and producer Sam Lutfi under the impression that they were attempting to kill him in an effort to retrieve Kurt Cobain's guitar back from him, which he won in his divorce settlement from Frances Bean. Now Love's defense has organized a mental health evaluation of Silva to determine if his mind is in the right place.

According to a report by TMZ, Silva will undergo a 7-hour examination on July 30th at 10am at a facility in Southern California which will consist of interviews, standardized psychological test, and a mental status check.

Court documents say that doctors will look over Silva's mental health to determine if he was in the right state of mind when he believed Love and Lutfi were conspiring to kill him, and if the allegations are still resonating with him today. Doctors also plan on interviewing him on his education, employment, family history, marital history, legal history, and substance use.
