Remember playing with a yo-yo when you were a kid? After getting the yoyo to go up and down, you eventually graduate to other tricks like "Walking the Dog", "Around the Corner" and "The Creeper."

But if you're going to compete in the 2018 National Yo-yo Contest, you're going to need a much bigger bag of tricks. You'll need to know "The Matric", the "And What", and like figure skaters competing in the Olympics, you'll need a killer soundtrack.

That's where we introduce Evan Nagao, a two-time National Yo-yo champion who just won his second consecutive title thanks to lots of practice, skill, and the epic American anthem "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. And to put it simply, Evan crushes it.

When asked on Reddit what the toughest part of his performance was, "The part where I whip the yo-yo into triangle formations under my legs and behind my back. Not only is this a really tough trick, but if any of the formations are dropped at that point, it creates a knot in the axel, which means I have to switch out the yo-yo, and for the most part, lose the entire contest. Very high risk, and very high reward."
