Eric Clapton Says He's Losing His Hearing

January 10, 2018

Guitar legend Eric Clapton, like many other greats in rock, recently told the BBC that he has tinnitus. A hearing condition often caused by damage to inner ear cells by loud and excessive noise, tinnitus results in the perception of ringing or buzzing in the ears.

Much like former AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson, Clapton's hearing has left him concerned with his ability to still play onstage, Although he continues to work into his 70s, he is only doing a few gigs at a time.

Aside from his hearing, Clapton has also been experiencing chronic nerve pain that has affected both his back and hands, which has also been affecting his ability to play guitar.

Clapton is also the subject of the new SHOWTIME documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars, which follows the beginning of his musical career, his impact on culture, as well as some of the most intense and emotional moments of his life.
