Corey Taylor Shares Slipknot's Plans For Releasing Their Unheard Material

August 28, 2019

With Slipknot riding the immediate wave of success following the release of their latest album We Are Not Your Kind, word got out that the band was considering releasing another album titled Look Outside Your Window consisting of songs that did not make the cut of their 2008 album All Hope Is Gone.

While backstage at the Xfinity Center on Corey Taylor's tour bus, Mistress Carrie questioned him about their unreleased material and what prevented them from appearing on the album. "I kind of made an attempt to make some of those songs work with All Hope is Gone in a way to kind of bridge the 'artistic gulf' that was going on at the time," says Taylor. "There was a lot of tension, a lot of weirdness that was going on and no matter what I did, it was really kind of about, 'No, these are my toys. I don't want to share them.'"

As a result of the tension, those songs were shelved.

Fast forward eleven years, Corey and the band now see an opportunity to let their unreleased material see the light of day. "We had been trying to find a way to put it out for a while. Clown, who is really kind of the keeper of it, is only putting it out in a way that is comfortable for him and his artistic vision," adds Taylor.

So what can fans expect from Look Outside Your Window? "Texturally, it's so... it's so good. Like really really good, and it doesn't sound like anything like Slipknot, and yet it is probably one of the most Slipknot things we've ever made."
