At the end of each year, Google shares its "most trending" terms in news, politics, sports, entertainment and more. And since 2017 followed 2016's morbid example of iconic rock stars passing away, it was no surprise that Tom PettyChris Cornell and Chester Bennington were on the list.

Specifically under the "Losses" category, Tom Petty came out as the most-searched deceased celebrity. Followed by Bennington and then Cornell. The Top 5 searched-for figures were as follows:
