Ozzy Osbourne Fans Launch Petition To Grant Him Knighthood

March 21, 2019

He's been the Prince of Darkness for the last five decades, but now Ozzy Osbourne fans have started a Change.org petition to grant him the official title of "Knight."

For musicians, the honor of knighthood is granted to those who have achieved great success in their contributions for music and culture, both of which Ozzy made for many years in Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, as well as the countless accolades attributed to his name. "He was the first to receive a star on the Birmingham Walk of Stars in Broad street," according to the petition. "He was also honoured with a star along Hollywood Walk of Fame. He had been asked by Buckingham Palace to play for them on two occasions - The Queen's Jubilee and at The Royal Variety Performance. His name is synonymous in the entertainment industry from the very young to the older generation."

"His music can be heard playing in major sports arenas and many have made a living by creating their own tribute bands and playing both cover versions of his music or playing their own influenced by Mr Osbourne's music. Many musicians had launched their careers from the most successful music festival to date that he founded in the 90's called 'Ozzfest'. As he turns 70 at the end of 2018, he is still going strong with many more projects planned."

If Osbourne were to be knighted, he would be joining the ranks of other knighted musicians like Elton John, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
