If you're a man and you're in the mood to play chess, backgammon, Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders, or Life, you pay want to think twice before blasting Aerosmith and Metallica in the background.

Why? According to scientists from the Imperial College London and the UK's Royal College of Music, rock music can impair men's ability to concentrate.

The study took 352 people and had them remove three fake organs from the board game Operation while having them listen to rock music, classical music, or the ambience of an operation room through noise-canceling headphones. The results shows that many of the male participants showed the least amount of concentration while listening to rock music, but were relaxed and focused while listening to classical music.

Women on the other hand had taken longer to remove the fake organs while listening to rock music, but did not appear as distracted and made less mistakes.

Meanwhile, participants that were fans of rock music managed to display higher levels of concentration than those that were not.
