The cover is especially poignant in current times

It’s a cover you may not have expected from a group of musicians that is best known for being down with the sickness, but Disturbed have delivered a hauntingly beautiful take on a Sting classic.

Disturbed dropped a cover of Sting’s “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You” accompanied by a gorgeous music video. The song comes from Sting’s 1993 record Ten Summoner’s Tales and begins with singer David Draiman’s voice alongside a quiet piano before gradually building up to a crescendo.

“We have loved this song for a long time, and even though it was released in 1993, it seems strangely applicable to today’s world,” the band said in a statement.

“The song is about losing faith, and might initially sound pessimistic, but it’s about the importance and power of personal relationships, and how they can save you and provide solace in an increasingly confusing world.”

Disturbed’s version of “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You” is just the latest in the line of classic covers they’ve released. Other covers include Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound Of Silence,” Tears For Fears’ “Shout,” and Genesis’ “Land of Confusion.”

The rockers have touched on the importance of maintaining strong relationships with those you trust and ensuring that you are not alone.

Leading up to RADIO.COM’s I’m Listening broadcast on September 23, we revisited our conversation with the band as they discussed the importance of talking about mental health and having someone in your corner.

“People need to be advocates,” Draiman said. “People need to get involved. If they see the warning signs, if they see somebody falling prey to depression, to addiction... intervene. Don’t wait. Don’t wait until it’s too late.”

“And for those who are dealing with the demon, don’t feel like it’s a battle you have to wage on your own. There are always people who will help you, who will give you a hand up, who will be there to support you, who will continue to give you a reason to fight.”

RADIO.COM’s I’m Listening broadcast takes place on Wednesday, September 23 at 6 PM on every RADIO.COM station and the RADIO.COM app.
