Corey Taylor of Slipknot Knows a Thing or Two About Wearing a Mask: 'Stop Whining'

The guy wears a mask on stage... He should know

August 7, 2020

Corey Taylor is serious about wearing a mask. He wants you to wear one around friends and family. But don’t try and replicate one of the many piecemeal flesh masks the Slipknot frontman dons on stage. He’s talking about PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

During a recent interview with Australian radio station Triple M Sydney 104.9, Taylor implored fans and others to wear face masks to prevent spreading the coronavirus.

“Yeah, stop whining and put your god damn mask on,” he said. "This isn’t an isolated incident. My country is loaded with these dumba***s that think it is some sort of political standpoint or some sort of partisan garbage. And I’m just like, ‘are you serious?’ Just because you haven’t had anyone in your life affected by it doesn’t mean that it’s not a real thing."

Corey isn’t the only one recommending people to mask up. The CDC and White House say wearing a face covering is an effective way to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. As positive cases continue to rise across the country, Taylor warns ignorance can create bigger problems. “From a very cold standpoint, Karma is a bi***. It will come back and bite you in the a**."

He did however attempt showing empathy for people reluctant to use a covering. "I once had to wear a full head mask for eight hours while doing Slipknot press," he said. "Eight hours straight – didn’t take it off, but these people are going to bitch and moan about wearing it for 10 minutes at the market? Get over yourselves."

The Slipknot front man has been busy during the COVID lock down. He joined RADIO.COM for an exclusive Fandemic interview, detailing work on his highly-anticipated debut solo record CMFT, set to release next month.
